Links We Love 11.15.13

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

Happy Friday and congratulations on making it through another hectic school week! These last few weeks before Thanksgiving are always brutal when it comes to tests, group projects, and papers. But hold strong, ladies! In less than two weeks, you’ll be chowing down on turkey and pumpkin pie with your loved ones.

To help you keep your eye on the prize, I’ve compiled some fantastic links to distract you from your mounds of homework. Enjoy!

How to Use Facial Oil

Last week, I shared with you a recipe for an all-natural DIY exfoliant. This week, I thought I would follow up with recommendations on how to incorporate facial oil into your beauty routine after you’ve exfoliated.  I’ve always shied away from using oily products on my face in fear of breakouts and a greasy t-zone, but with the recent burst of cold weather, I’ve been forced to re-evaluate. This article by the trustworthy Beauty Department provides helpful tips on how to choose the right oil and directions on how to apply it. I started using moisturizing oil last week and so far so good! I definitely recommend giving it a try.

Health-ify Your Thanksgiving

If your family is anything like mine, your mom has already started planning for Thanksgiving Dinner. In my house, food is the main event, and everything throughout the day revolves around it. We move from breakfast to appetizers to sangria to dinner to dessert in a matter of hours, and the day concludes with food comas and absurdly-long naps. In an attempt to add some sliver of nutrition to our Holt Family Traditions, I plan on trying out some of Lauren Conrad’s favorite healthy dishes. Her bite-sized pumpkin pies seem like the perfect way to use portion-control without feeling deprived. I think the mashed cauliflower may be too big of a leap for my less-than-health-conscious family, but the Pear, Prosciutto and Hazelnut Stuffing is on my must-try list!

The Perfect Rain Boots

For quite some time now, I have been on the hunt for the perfect rain boots. There are so many brands and styles; I’m always hesitant to commit to one, because I worry that there may be a better pair out there. I have an irrational fear of having post-buyer remorse—I know, I’m well-aware of how crazy it sounds. But, hey, if I’m going to spend the money, it needs to be splurge worthy, right? Needless to say, I was super excited when I came across this post by one of my favorite fashion bloggers, Mary. She gives some of her favorite designer styles, and even includes links to cheaper options for those of us who are watching our spending. I haven’t made my final decision yet, but I’m leaning towards number one on her list—I’m all about edgy details, like studs and buckles, for this winter.

Winter Hair Solutions

Although this article is technically from last winter, it still provides fantastic runway-inspired hairstyles for winter. With our first “snow” of the season this past Tuesday, I realized it’s time to start thinking about ways to manage my hair when Mother Nature is not on my side. My personal go-to hairstyle during the colder months is the traditional bun. It’s a timeless, no-fuss look that takes only a few minutes to create. This article by Glamour Magazine highlights several types of buns, ranging from chic ballet styles to looser edgy buns. Check out the photos in the article for inspiration!

Enjoy your weekends, Ladies! HCXO
