If Only We Had Known…

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

With spring break almost here, and a depressing tweet from the Class of 2012 (@BentleyU2012 We have 3 months until we graduate from @bentleyu), HerCampus Bentley writers reflect on what we wish we had known sooner during our time as Falcons. Whether the advice came from freshman or seniors (or even our friends abroad!), everyone was willing to give insight and share their Bentley secrets!

Here is what our writers, and some friends, had to say:

  • “I wish I had known that the Help Desk in the Library would lend you a laptop charger. It’s only for 3 hours, but, it would have been so helpful to know that last year!”
  • “That you can look at the Seasons menu online to see if it’s worth a swipe!”
  • “ I wish I knew how much planning ahead is needed when going abroad”
  • “This is an obvious one but, I had no idea the Bubble printed freshman year”
  • “ I didn’t know that when you have an unlimited meal plan you can’t swipe people into Seasons because it takes your discretionary”
  • “Printing funds are for the whole year, not a semester like discretionary”
  • “I wish I had attended events on campus sooner. I’m a senior and I just went to  my first Super Bingo.”
  • “The library will loan you headphones to use”
  • “Classrooms are open to students whenever they are empty and they are the best place to study”
  • “I wish I went to Career Services sooner! Even if you aren’t looking for a job yet, it’s a good idea to plan everything out! They help so much.”
  • “Professors can make great friends and office hours are convenient and the best way to form relationships with your professors”
  • “Bentley sells Advil and Tylenol in the vending machines in the Library”

There will always be a time when we look back and say “If I only knew now…” and let’s hope that is finished with something easy like “the library is open 24 hours during finals” instead of “you actually need to take GB212 to graduate”. As we continue our time at Bentley, there will be more and more things we learn every day. So whether you learned something new from this list or not, it is always a helpful reminder that your $40 for printing last only one semester and you can check in to see what Seasons has on the menu for the week.

Our writers and friends shared their tips and tricks. Was there one we missed? What would you have liked to know sooner?
