How To: Decorate Your Computer Like a Pro

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

I’m sure you’ve seen decked-out laptops all over campus (it’s been a trend for years now). For the person who is always admiring other people’s laptop decor and wishing they had their own cute stickers to decorate with, this article is for you!

Now, the main question in the case of decorating one’s laptop isn’t how you do it, it’s where on earth you get those super cute stickers you’ve seen on everyone’s computers. Lucky for you, I know the secret: Redbubble!

Redbubble is a website similar to Etsy, where independent artists are given a platform to create and sell their designs. Whether this is t-shirts, phone cases, mugs, or adorable stickers, there are all different things artists can sell here. If you’re in the market for some laptop stickers to finally join the movement towards personalized computers, Redbubble is the place to go. They have nearly 100,000 sticker designs available to purchase, and each design can be selected in a range of sizes and finishes.

Every sticker can be customized to have a matte, glossy, or transparent finish. For size, you are able to choose from small, medium, large, or extra-large. Everything depends on the look you are going for. Whether you want one giant sticker and lots of smaller ones around it, or a bunch of medium or small stickers layed out in some fashion, you can do whatever your heart desires!

The other amazing part of Redbubble is that there are always sales going on! If you are buying small-sized stickers (the most common choice for laptop decoration), there is almost always a deal of “buy any 4 and get 25% off” your order, or “buy any 10 and get 50% off” your order! What could be better than getting 50% off your order? Plus, most small stickers with a matte finish are less than $3, so getting 10 stickers and 50% off your order means you will get an amazing deal on some adorable stickers.

Now, for the question of what kind of stickers to actually get, it all depends on what look you want to go for. Some people choose to just pick out a bunch of stickers that have personal meaning to them, while others will choose a certain color and only have stickers that are the one color. Personally, I am a HUGE Marvel fan (pretty much geek at this point), and so over the summer I bought all Marvel stickers to replace the old stickers I had on my laptop. Now, I have an all-Marvel themed laptop, and I am seriously loving it.

Really, decorating your computer is about you. It’s like deciding what clothes you want to wear — your computer is an extension of yourself and your personality. So, express yourself! If you love Friends, then search up some cute stickers for that. If you are obsessed with the office, trust me they have tons of stickers for that. Cute animals? 100% there. Funny quotes? More than I can count. Legally Blond references? There are so many Elle Woods quotes that she herself would be proud. Pretty much anything you can imagine for a laptop sticker is going to be on Redbubble. But, if in the horrifically unlikely situation that a sticker you have in your mind isn’t there, you can make an account on the site and make your own!

I hope this article helps you in your own laptop decorating adventures, and just make sure to remember: this is about you so have fun with it and express yourself! Who knows? Maybe you’ll strike up a conversation in class with someone about your stickers and you can make a new friend.
