Welcome to the HerCampus Bentley HisCampus section! I will get through the introduction first, so here are a few things about myself: I am Phillip Smith, I’m a sophomore (Class of 2014), and a Corporate Finance and Accounting Major. I’m going to use this section of HerCampus Bentley to talk about things guys care about, like sports and women. My first piece is going to be a short look at this year’s Bentley Falcons Men’s Basketball team.

The Falcons recently had their first official games of the season in their annual Bentley Tip-Off Classic. On Friday night, they played the Felician Golden Falcons and had a decisive victory winning 100 -62, with 42 of the Falcon’s 100 points coming off the bench. This highlighted the talents of the freshmen (Koury, Shaw, and Cheshul) as well as the players returning from last year’s roster.

On Saturday, the Bentley men had their second and final game of the Tip-Off Tourney against Bloomfield, a team that Bentley most recently lost to in the NCAA East Regional Final. In what perhaps could be considered a bout of revenge, the Falcons beat the Bloom Field Deacons 83-74. This was a tight game where the point differential was rarely more than 5 or 6. While the Falcons came into the second half down 4 points, they came back scoring 9 in the second half and carried a lead on to victory.

Overall the message that can be taken from the Tip-Off tournament is that while a big loss was taken with graduation of Brian Tracey and grad-student Mike Quinn, the team is still as solid as ever. This should be a promising season for the Falcons who will be looking to make it to the tournament this season after being stifled by Bloomfield who went on an incredible run to make it last year. I know that I will be at nearly every game this season, and I hope to see you there too.
