During these times it can be a battle for many between wanting to take this time to be as productive as possible or taking this time to relax and not worry about too many responsibilities. A solution for this is to try and find balance between the two, though this is easier said than done. Here are some tips to help get you started in finding balance in your new day-to-day routine.

  • Plan out your day ahead of time, blocking out times for various activities you want to get done during the day (both productive and relaxation tasks)

  • Pick a few days a week where you want to be productive for a majority of the day and stick to it, giving yourself a reward at the end of the day or week for your hard work

  • Set goals for yourself, make them short term and attainable (this can help you still feel accomplished even when at times it seems like there is no point for goals anymore)

  • Keep track of what day it is and keep the weekends as time to relax and plan fun things such as having a self-care day or planning a video call with friends and family

  • Don’t be too hard on yourself if you aren’t as productive as you hoped for a day or even a few, times are difficult and unpredictable and everyone deserves a break without punishment

Hopefully some of these tips can help alleviate some stress of feeling overworked or not working enough during this quarantine. These times look different for everyone and there is no right way to go about each day, we just have to take things one step at a time to get through this together.
