As Thanksgiving comes around each year, most people talk about how they are so excited to eat the delicious food their family cooks for them. While the food is a main part of the celebration, sometimes we need a gentle reminder that the holiday is really about being grateful. In addition to thinking about what we are going to eat, we should also take time to recognize the individuals who worked hard to put food on the table.

I am thankful for my family and everything they have done for me; my friends for always adding light to my life; my education and the opportunities it has brought me; and all of the amazing experiences I have had in life.

Thanksgiving is a great time to remember to be thankful, and we should continue acknowledging all the amazing things in our lives every day. Recognizing what you are grateful for can improve your mood, reduce stress, and strengthen your relationships with others. One great way to incorporate this into your life is to start journaling. Taking the time to write down what you’re thankful for each day, or each week, can really make a difference in your life. Don’t forget to be thankful over the holiday break!
