As our finals come and go, temperatures rise and summer break quickly approaches, we wanted to leave you guys on a high note! So this week, we concocted a delicious Tropical Sangria—for the 21+ Collegiettes, of course—
that is sure to refresh even the driest of palates. It is packed with fresh chopped apples, oranges and pineapple, and is actually a great low-calorie alternative to most cocktails!
We have to admit that we are going to miss our weekly Foodie Friday posts, but we are excited to see what the summer months hold for us!
Have a wonderful summer break, ladies! We cannot wait to hear all your fun stories when we return in September!
Tropical Sangria
Recipe adapted from Health Magazine
Ingredients:
2-3 cups Dole Pineapple Juice
2-3 cups Ocean Spray Light Red Grapefruit Juice
2 small oranges
1 green apple
2 cups cubed fresh pineapple
1 750-ml bottle dry white wine
Directions:
1. On a cutting board dice and slice the fruit to your size preference
2. Combine wine, pineapple juice and grapefruit juice in large pitcher or container. Stir mixture until color is even throughout.
3. Add fruit to the mixture
4. Let stand for at least 2 hours before serving
Enjoy responsibly!
Helpful hints:
· Try to avoid using sweet white wines as the juice and fruit are already sweet enough!
· Feel free to add different fruit to meet your own personal needs.
· We doubled this recipe to make enough for a large group of people. The original recipe makes about 10 drinks, depending on how much fruit is added.
· If you are under 21, you can substitute a clear soda in place of the wine!
