As Bentley students, we often jump on the shuttle to Harvard Square, then board the T, all to get a nice meal. However why go all the way into Boston when there are so many amazing restaurants right in Cambridge? Here are some of the most unique and tasty eateries which I have discovered in this lovely area, as well as a few that I am hoping to get to soon!
FIRE + ICE
This is by far one of my favorite places in Harvard Square because the possibilities are almost endless! There are more than 18 different types of meat and seafood to choose from, over 40 different vegetables and pastas, and they have 15 delicious signature sauces. After you decide what will be piled into your dish (serve yourself so you can decide how much of everything you’d like) you head over to the large grill in the middle of the restaurant where a chef prepares your food right in front of you! This is a great place to go with friends!
Flat Patties
Flat Patties is a cute little restaurant that is so much more than just fast food. All of their hamburgers are ground fresh daily and their fries are hand cut, and if you’re feeling a little something sweet, they also make homemade desserts! Flat Patties is a great place for some delicious to-go food, I personally recommend their fries and delicious hot dogs!
Border Café
Border Café is definitely a favorite among my roommates and myself. This Mexican styled restaurant has the best quesadillas and fajitas around, at a college-friendly price. One of the best options here is their “for two” option, perfect for splitting a large amount of food with a friend! Also, a little known fact is how proud this restaurant is about their chips and salsa– they cook tortilla chips to order and their signature salsa is made fresh from scratch several times a day. Lastly, if you’re of age, Border has the best variety of margaritas, at a great price for college students! Just remember that Border Café unfortunately does not take reservations, so there may be a bit of a wait, however the food will be worth it!
Mr. Bartley’s Gourmet Burgers
Since its opening over 50 years ago, Mr. Bartley’s has become a very well-known spot in Cambridge. It has even been featured on the Food Network! Mr. Bartley’s has an interesting dining room which is made to look like a dorm room, complete with posters, signs and bumper stickers, giving the customer a memorable experience! With their unique burger names such as the “Tom Brady”, the “iPhone”, and the “Kevin Garnett”, just to name a few, you’ll want to go back again and again to try them all!
