Hey, collegiettes! The time has come to figure out your Valentine’s Day plans! For both ladies and guys, high expectations and a little bit of stress about plans and gift ideas are inevitable. So, what’s your ideal Valentine’s date? Try one of these ideas to plan the perfect day for you and your Valentine!
For Movie Lovers:
Going to the movies is always a great idea, especially for new couples. Movies can be a romantic and fun way to spend time with your date. This year’s Valentines movie is Safe Haven. Based on a novel by Nicolas Sparks and starring Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel, the movie promises to be a perfect V-day flick. For lovers of the classics, the Brattle Theater in Cambridge is having its annual Valentine’s Day showing of Casablanca. Or, if you were thinking of something more theatrical, there are performances by the Blue Man Group, Jersey Boys or Tony Bennett in the theater district in Boston on the 14th.

For Nature Lovers:
Although the winter weather sometimes puts a damper on outdoor plans, it’s always nice to take a lovely stroll with your date. Just be sure to hunker down somewhere warm afterwards. Bentley is surrounded by many parks and fields, so it should be easy to plan your ideal outdoor excursion. If you want to travel a little further from Bentley, consider the Christian Herter Park or the North Point Park. You could even watch the sunset from a rooftop or hill.

Do you love romance novels? Try something romantic this Valentine’s Day and spend the day in with your significant other. You could have breakfast in bed, watch romantic movies all day, or cook a nice dinner together. And if you don’t have a kitchen (or just don’t feel like cooking), you can order in. You could even deck out your room with electric lights (no candles in the dorms!) and rose petals. Another very romantic idea is to reenact your first date or go out for a “Dinner in the Dark” at the Hampshire House in Boston.

Do you love unexpected adventures? Make your Valentine’s Day fun and exciting by doing something fun and active. Some great ideas are:
- Ice skating on the Boston Common Frog Pond (located off the Park Street stop on the Red Line)
- Laser tag at Laser Quest in West Roxbury
- Paintball at Boston Paintball in Chelsea.
If you really crave adventure, you can grab a map of Massachusetts and randomly pick a place that looks intriguing. Take a spontaneous day trip or even spend the night. Since Valentine’s Day is on a Thursday, you could make it a weekend trip!
