Meet my close friend and talented performer, Nicole Jones! Nicole is a junior publishing major at Belmont University originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee. Currently, she is head over heels for her internship with HarperCollins Publishing. Aside from her academic endeavors, Nicole loves all things Disney, reading, and performing in local venues. Her Instagram is a great way to get to know her and see what she’s up to. You can follow her @iamnicolecoley.

Q: What made you decide to attend Belmont?

“With my love for both music and publishing, Belmont was the perfect place for me! Nashville is a hub for both music and publishing, so I have opportunities in learning and experiences that I can’t get anywhere else. Belmont is also one of the only colleges with a Publishing program, making my decision very easy! I also love the values and focus on faith in my education.”

Q: What do you love most about your internship with HarperCollins?

It has been Nicole’s dream since high school to intern with HarperCollins Christian Publishing, which will hopefully lead to a career with them.

“I am a marketing intern in the nonfiction department. I love the opportunity to combine my creative design skills with my passion for stories and helping share those with the world. It’s amazing to see the impact our books can make as a part of our mission, “to inspire the world by meeting the needs of people with content that promotes biblical principles and honors Jesus Christ.”

Q: When did your love for Disney begin?

“I grew up always watching Disney movies. When I was about 5 years old, my family went to Disney World for the first time and we have been going every few years since! It’s a magical and nostalgic place where everyone can be that kid at heart.”

Q: What advice do you have for someone wanting to pursue music?

“The best advice I received when I began pursuing music is the same advice I always give, which was to always write what’s in your heart. This has always helped me stay true to myself and remember why I do what I do.”

Q: What are your aspirations post-graduation?

“I am so thankful for every opportunity I have had at Belmont and in Nashville and feel like in so many ways I am already living my dreams. Post-graduation I hope to continue to walk through whatever doors God opens to continue pursuing my dreams. I look forward to a career in the publishing industry in marketing or editorial, as well as always pursuing my music!”
