Why did you choose Belmont?

I grew up around Nashville and came to Belmont pretty often in high school for flute competitions. When it came time to choose a school, I had a lot of difficulty deciding, but ultimately realized Belmont felt like home. It’s familiar and friendly, and the faculty is amazing.

What’re your career goals?

To be completely honest, I still don’t know exactly what I want to do. I would love to do something in public policy or work for a company with a global reach. I like to look at the big picture and read as much as I can about current events.

Favorite place to go in Nashville?

I love to walk around 12 South, Hillsboro Village, the Gulch, and other small areas to try out new restaurants and coffee shops. I’m not a huge fan of the downtown area because it can be overwhelming, so I like to explore surrounding areas. Some of my favorite restaurants and cafés are Taqueria Del Sol, Burger Republic, McDougals, The Well, Jeni’s Ice Cream, and the Starbucks on 21st (I know Starbucks isn’t special I just love the vibe in that one).

Do you have any hobbies?

In high school I played flute in wind ensemble and marching band, and flute was pretty much my life. I continued playing through my first year at Belmont in the concert band, but I quit this year so I haven’t gotten to play as much. I’m now an intern in the music department at my church, so I have been working really hard with that and taking voice lessons in order to be even more valuable in the choirs I help with. Music has been a huge part of my life for as long as I remember, no matter what form it may take.

What’s your favorite class you’ve taken at Belmont?

This is going to sound pretty lame, but I really loved Understanding The Bible my first semester here. I love learning all of the historical and cultural context behind the Bible stories I grew up hearing. I also love all the French classes I’ve ever taken, and I think learning a second language is extremely important.

Top 3 favorite bands?

Queen, Harry Styles, Alessia Cara

Favorite Movie?

Legally Blonde

Favorite quote?

“When the whole world is silent, even one voice becomes powerful” -Malala Yousafzai

Favorite Food?

Chips and homemade guacamole!

What would you say to someone considering joining the HC team?

You don’t have to be an English or Journalism major to join! If you love writing and don’t get many chances to write about whatever you want, you should definitely consider joining the team. It doesn’t take up much of your time, and you get a chance to share your voice with the Belmont community and beyond. I’m a business major, so I would barely get to write if it weren’t for Her Campus.
