Madison Sharp is a freshman here at Belmont with big dreams and impeccable talent as a photographer. Although we have plenty of photographers here on campus, Madison is a veteran concert photographer; she’s been in the pit for artists like Ke$ha, The Head and The Heart, and My Morning Jacket. Now, she’s here for your photography needs and viewing pleasures! I sat down with Madison for a short chat on her history and how you can book or collaborate with her, too.

When did you first start getting serious about photography?

“I’ve always loved photography. Every since I was little my parents would give me a camera for every holiday. But I would say I didn’t start getting serious until sophomore year of high school. That’s when I knew I wanted to do this forever.”

How did you start getting into doing concert photography seriously?

“Again, around sophomore year I went to a Capital Cities concert. I just watched the photographers in the pit and I knew I wanted to be one. I would sit through the whole concert and would take thousands of pictures on my phone until I got one that I liked. I knew from that concert on, I had to be in the pit.”

Who are some standout artists that you’ve photographed?

“My favorite photos I’ve ever taken are always at festivals. My favorite band I’ve ever photographed was My Morning Jacket.”

Are you open to doing shoots for local artists? (If so, what’s your contact info?)

“I am, always! Email: madisonsharp@soundsandsight.com

Do you do other types of photography?

“I do! I have done tons of portraits and I love nature photography as well.”

What’s the most rewarding part of your work?

“I love music, probably more than anything. Since I am void of musical talent, I feel like this is my contribution to the music world. There’s nothing like the feeling of getting one perfect shot and being so proud of the work you’ve put out.”

Make sure to contact Madison Sharp for gigs and portraits, or check out her portfolio for a dose of musical eye candy!
