It’s always the same story for me. About 10 minutes before class starts, I roll out of bed and rush to the bathroom to get ready as fast as I can. The first few weeks of school, this process would lead me to disaster. Luckily, throughout my few short months of college, I have been able to perfect the lazy college student’s beauty routine by hunting down the perfect products, and by doing a whole lot of practice, of course.

Skincare

First thing’s first, it all starts with skin care. I know this is probably the last thing a student in a rush wants to think about when they need to run out the door. However, spending a short minute to take care of your skin will help your makeup appear flawless and oil-free throughout a long day of classes. When I’m in a rush, I like to shorten my skincare routine as much I possibly can- usually sticking to a cleanser and moisturizer. For a cleanser, I love Lush’s Coalface cleansing bar. Not only will it be great for cleansing oily or combination skin, but because it is naturally made with charcoal, it will also exfoliate your skin, leaving a smooth base to apply makeup. After that, I like to quickly moisturize my face. For a lower cost moisturizer, I love the Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer, but if you’re willing to splurge, try out the Enzymion Moisturizer from Lush.

Foundation

Once a healthy base has been established for your makeup, it’s time for foundation. Even though some days I skip this step for class, on days when I choose to wear foundation I like to apply it very light and sparingly. My favorite type of product to use for this is a BB Cream because it looks super natural and helps to keep my skin moisturized. I love the Maybelline Dream Pure BB cream, especially because it fits my college budget. After foundation (or if you skipped foundation altogether) is one of my must-have steps- concealer. After staying up late studying or just watching too much Netflix, I like to put some of the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer under my eyes and on any blemishes or red patches I have on my skin. After both of these, I finish off with a quick dusting of powder with the Rimmel Stay Matte Translucent powder.

Eyes

Once my skin is looking flawless, I like to move on to eye makeup. The first thing I always do during this step is fill in my eyebrows. On days where I don’t wear a lot of makeup, filling in your eyebrows can make your whole look appear more put together. For my brows I like to go simple and use a matte medium-brown Maybelline eyeshadow with a small angled brush. After my brows are shaped, if I have a little more time that day, I will apply some natural eyeshadow and highlight using the original Naked Palette, and then apply liquid eyeliner with the Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner. However, when I’m more of a rush, I skip those both and apply a thorough coat of Maybelline Falsies Mascara instead. While the Revlon mascara is a great drugstore find, for higher end mascaras I love Benefit They’re Real!

Lips

As for lips, determine how bold you go based on what your day’s plans are. Usually, if I’m in a rush, I’ll apply whichever chapstick I have on hand, but if I have more time to spare I’ll take the time to apply some of my favorite products. At the moment I’m loving nude matte liquid lipsticks products, especially the Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lip Color and the Rimmel Provocalips.

Extras

Have a few more minutes to spare in the morning? Have some fun with your look! For me, if I have some extra time, I will add a touch of contour with the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer and a little bit of shine with the Benefit Watt’s Up highlighter.

So, there you have it: a foolproof beauty routine for the lazy college student who is ready to sprint out the door. The great part of this routine is that it is super customizable for whatever your day has in store. If your plans consist of going to class then back to the dorm for a girl’s night in- feel free to skip some steps and apply the bare minimum, but if you have bigger plans for the day, you can stick to this routine, or add whatever new beauty trends you want to try! So, collegiettes, I hope this guide helps to ease some stress from your rush to class AND helps give you some great ideas to boost your beauty routine
