This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Belmont chapter.

“Where the Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens has it all. This story is truly one for all audiences! The book follows the touching story of Kya, a girl living in a marsh and struggling to survive in the small rural community of Barkley Cove in North Carolina. Her interactions with society are limited primarily to selling shellfish to Jumpin, a local she befriends, and run-ins on the marsh. As local bachelors become captivated by Kya, she grows in self-discovery and finds the meaning of love.

So, for those looking for romance, you won’t be disappointed. Readers looking for mystery will be intrigued by Kya’s puzzling behavior, complicated past and the constant turn of events. Action-packed, thought-provoking and a beautiful blend of joy, sadness and confusion, this story will keep readers turning the page until they’ve realized they’ve reached the last one.
