Ways to Procrastinate in the Nice Weather

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

As we embark on the last leg of this semester, it’s hard not to be distracted by the amazing weather we’re having this time of the year. If you’re like me, the warm temperatures make it hard to focus on schoolwork. Here are some of my favorite ways to procrastinate when there’s nice weather at Boston College:

1. Go for a walk/run around the Res

Walking around the Res is one of my favorite things. It’s also a great place to go for a run, see some of your peers, do some great people watching, and run into dozens of adorable dogs. Visiting the Res is a great way to avoid your responsibilities.

2. Walk to the Juice Press

Something about the warm weather makes me want to have an acai bowl. If you’re on Upper or CoRo, the Juice Press is an easy 15-minute walk from the dorms. Walking in the nice weather to get a yummy bowl is a great way to forget about all of your assignments.

3. Sit on Stokes Lawn

Sitting on Stokes Lawn while people play Ultimate Frisbee/Kan Jam is so nice and relaxing. It’s the best place to talk with friends, enjoy the weather, and admire the beautiful campus. Stokes Lawn is the place to be when you’re avoiding your schoolwork when it’s nice out.

4. Have Lunch/Dinner in the Amphitheater

The Amphitheater behind Stokes is a great place to bring your lunch or dinner and enjoy the outdoors. There are always people sitting there when the weather is nice and you’ll really feel like you’re on a college campus. It’s a great spot to forget about your responsibilities for a while.

5. Take a Stroll to White Mountain

When it’s nice out, all I want to do is eat ice cream. Luckily, White Mountain is so close to BC and has amazing ice cream. Whenever you want to put off your schoolwork, going to White Mountain is a great idea.

6. Shop at the Street

BC is very close to the great area of outdoor shopping at The Street. Walking around the shops or browsing in the very high-end stores is a great way to waste some time before starting your work.

7. Go into Boston

Boston is an amazing city, but it is even more amazing in the warm weather. Walking through the Boston Common in the warm sunshine is one of my favorite things. Heading into the city is a great way to avoid your schoolwork when the weather is nice!

Procrastinating is easy, especially when it’s nice out! Good luck, BC!
