To Wait, Or Not To Wait?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

I am graduating in less than a month. Now I am still trying to find a job, which makes senior year a little stressful. I have gotten a ton of advice from people in the working world, people who just graduated and from friends and family. My main question is that at this point with just a few weeks left in my college career, is it better to keeping trying to find a job or is it better to take a step back and try to enjoy the time I have left?

My answer is that it depends on the type of person you are.

I am very much an “it will all work out” type of person. If that means that I won’t have a job come the time that I walk the stage to get my diploma, then so be it. Trust me I am still applying for jobs and always checking the job postings, but as of right now I am not letting that be my main priority. If it looks like an application will take more than 10 minutes, most of the time I tag it and plan to return to it once I graduate.

If you are someone who needs a plan and must to know what is going to happen after you leave the halls of Boston College, well here is a plan for you. Plan to apply to one job a day. Do not stress out! Be proactive without letting it take over your life. You still need to be able to enjoy the end of the school year, so stay on top of everything and apply for what you want without spending nights in just because you are stressed for about getting a job.

I will let you guys know when I am employed! Until then, take my advice and realize that you won’t regret being unemployed for a few weeks, but you will regret being stressed during the last months of senior year!

I am a Political Science major and Women's and Gender Studies minor at Boston College. I am an RA on campus and am involved in the Student Admissions Program. Since I am from Florida, I can legitimately say that I love long walks on the beach. I also love getting lost in a world fabricated by a novel, there is honestly nothing better.
