With Halloween right around the corner, there is no better place to check out than Massachusetts’ own Halloween town: Salem!

Here are some of the best things to do when you visit this spooky town:

Visit the House of Seven Gables

Visit this beautiful mansion that was the setting of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s 1851 novel, House of Seven Gables. With autumn in the air, October is the perfect month to visit this famous home that has been in Salem since 1668.

Check out the Salem Witch Museum

No matter how short your trip to Salem is, visiting the Salem Witch Museum is a must. The museum has two parts: a presentation documenting the Witch Trials of 1962 and an exhibition on the evolution of witches. The museum ends with a pretty cool gift shop where you can pick up some spellbinding souvenirs.

Walk Around the Neighborhoods of Salem

The residents of Salem sure do know how to celebrate Halloween. Walking through the neighborhoods of Salem is an underrated and free activity. You will be sure to find some of the best Halloween decorated houses here! Also, the fall foliage is beautiful.

Go Shopping

Salem is full of little shops that sell everything from Halloween costumes to witch brooms. You are sure to find things that you will not see anywhere else. It is also fun to buy a witch hat while you’re there! You will fit right in.

Grab Sweet Treats

Salem is home to many bakeries and ice cream shops serving fall specialties. Try pumpkin fudge or candy corn when you visit!

People Watch

Salem is one of the best places to people watch on the weekends of October. People try very hard to come up with the best Halloween costumes. Tourists flock the streets. Be careful because you may just run into the Sanderson Sisters or Frankenstein.

Visiting this town is a must for Halloween lovers!
