In this edition of the Her Campus BC Travel Guide series, we take a trip to the sweet, summery island of Nantucket. A short ferry ride from the Cape in Massachusetts, this tiny island is home to beautiful beaches and cobblestone roads. If you are looking for a quick getaway this summer, here are our recommendations for a perfect trip to Nantucket!

Ride the waves at Surfside Beach

Make time for some fun in the sun and bodysurfing at Surfside Beach. Work up an appetite battling the waves and then head to the surf shack for a “cheeseburger in paradise”.

Dine at sunset at Galley Beach

With some of the best crab cakes around, this upscale seafood restaurant is not one to miss. A beach bar and lounge extends from the back of the restaurant allowing diners to sip on a yummy drink with their toes in the sand.

Stay at the Nantucket Hotel

Filled with island charm, this hotel is definitely a great choice. The adorable decor and prime location makes this the perfect place to rest your head while visiting the island.

Get your ice cream fix at The Juice Bar

The smell of homemade waffle cones will greet you from around the corner of the Juice Bar. This creamy, scrumptious ice cream is definitely worth battling the line that will form around the block.

Go for a shopping spree downtown

Navigate the delightful cobblestone streets downtown and explore all of the boutique shops. With nautical, preppy clothes galore, you will surely find the perfect outfit for your next visit to the island!

Ride Bikes out to Madaket

Nantucket is filled with bike paths, so be sure to take advantage. Rent bikes and take the beautiful ride out to the far west coast of the island, Madaket. Here you will find a beautiful beach and lighthouse.

Grab lunch at Something Natural

When lunchtime rolls around, be sure to head to Something Natural. Enjoy a sandwich on their homemade bread outside on their picnic benches. Also, be sure to buy a loaf (or two!) to bring home.

So pack up your favorite bathing suits and all of your nautical outfits and grab the next ferry to Nantucket!
