If you find yourself at home this Spring Break dreaming of your next European expedition, then join us on this little getaway to the quaint city of Brussels, Belgium. With delicious chocolate and waffles at every street corner, gorgeous architecture to inspire every photographer, and loads of history to remind you of what you learned in high school, this city is a delight. Here are some of our top recommendations for anyone planning a trip to Brussels:

Maison Dandoy

Be sure to head to the place that famously bakes “fresh biscuits to make your senses twinkle and dance”. The delicious smell of speculoos will surround you as you walk in the door and you won’t be able to leave empty handed.

Grand Place

Grand Place is the central square in Brussels and, truthfully, you cannot miss it. WIth stunning gothic architecture this square is known as an opulent display of wealth.

Manneken Pis

Also known as Petit Julien, this little statue of a peeing boy is an essential symbol of the city of Brussels. During big events, he is adorned with special clothes with over 900 suits in his personal wardrobe.

Fritland

After a long day of walking through the city, you will have surely worked up an appetite. This means its is time for some “french” fries. Be sure not to call them that in Brussels though! This is a misnomer dating back to WWII as fries actually come from Belgium, but when the Americans landed on the beaches in France and tried the fries they gave them the name we all know. Head to this place, add a sauce of your choice and eat up!

Chocolate shop hop

Pop into all of the little chocolate shops throughout the city to try their famous truffles! Our favorite (and the Queen’s) is Chocolaterie Mary.

Royal Gallery of Saint Hubert

Take a walk through this glass-covered gallery and check out all of the restaurants, chocolatiers and boutique shops inside.

Mini Europe

No time to visit all of the biggest cities in Europe? No problem! This miniature park has small replicas of all of the most famous European landmarks.

Royal Palace

Check out the elegant and massive Royal Palace that the Belgian royals use as their main workplace and administrative residence. Rivaling Buckingham Palace in size and grandeur, this landmark is a must-see.

A city famous for fries, chocolate and waffles? Sounds good to me! Enjoy your trip!
