As the holidays approach, so do the hectic days of travel. Whether you are traveling home for a weekend or packing for a semester abroad, there are several items that a girl can never forget.

1. Travel Bag

Luggage that is big enough to fit your clothes but comfortable enough to travel with is a must for all college students. A large duffel bag is perfect for long weekend trips, and a wheeled suitcase is best for trips that are a week or longer.

2. Chargers

Considering our unhealthy attachment to our phones, this one is self-explanatory.

3. Chapstick

I don’t know about everyone else, but I always get so dehydrated when I travel. Using a moisturizing lip balm is the best way to prevent dry lips.

4. Comfy (yet cute) outfit

No one wants to be uncomfortable when you’re traveling, but that doesn’t mean you need to look like you just rolled out of bed. Leggings, a sweater, a scarf, and ballet flats or riding boots make up a stylish and travel-appropriate outfit.

5. Hairbrush

No one’s hair looks good after a long flight or train ride, so bring a brush to tame it before seeing your family.

6. Hand Sanitizer

Unless you are driving to your destination, you will probably be surrounded by tons of people in extremely crowded areas. Do yourself a favor and use hand sanitizer if you do not want to be sick for the holidays.

7. Entertainment

There are so many things you can do to keep from getting bored while you’re traveling. Whether you’re going to sleep, read a magazine, watch TV, or for those with an incredible work ethic, do homework, make sure to pack whatever you need.

As long as you remember these essentials, you won’t even notice the hours fly by. Safe travels, collegiettes!

Emily is originally from Massachusetts, just 30 minutes outside of Boston. Her small city lies right on the coast where the beach is no more than 2 minutes away. She spends her free time getting addicted to shows on Netflix (it happens to the best of us), napping, and taking Buzzfeed quizzes.
