Top Spring 2013 Trends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Believe it or not, spring is right around the corner! And, even though it’s going to be cold for a while longer, there’s nothing better than planning and getting ready for the warm weather. Hopefully our wishes for spring will come sooner than we think. So, ladies let’s get ready for spring in these new 2013 trends!

Black and White

This trend is easy to put together because you already have all the pieces in your closet! Black pants with a white top, white pants with a black top, black and white striped shirts and dresses… the possibilities are endless.

Ruffles

This is an adorable, flirty trend for the spring. Dresses, skirts, and tops are the perfect way to wear this trend. It can be part of a sophisticated outfit for work or a fun, casual daytime outfit.

Emerald Green

Emerald green is named the color of the year for 2013. It can be worn in tops, pants, dresses, skirts, earrings, shoes, scarves, bags… the list continues.  Don’t be afraid to add this pop of color to any outfit!

Deep Blues

This trend pairs nicely with the emerald green color of the year. Wearing colors that look like the deep, blue sea combined with sandy beach nudes is the perfect way to step into spring. If you can’t get to the beach, then why not try to dress like one?

Peekaboo Pieces

Daring cutouts, midriff-baring separates, and sheer fabrics are all in this spring. The beauty of this trend? This peekaboo option can work for every body shape and any level of modesty. If you want to look super sexy, you can take this trend to a whole new level. If you want to try this trend modestly, go for a small peekaboo piece or a high-waisted skirt with a crop top.

Statement Sunglasses

Here is an easy, fun way to make a fashion statement: sunglasses! Try a cool shape or new color to add this trend to your wardrobe. Try Urban Outfitters or Forever 21 to find affordable statement sunglasses.

Metallics

This trend is here to stay. Silvers, golds, and sparkles have been trends for a while, and they’re back for spring 2013! Go through your closet and find those sparkly skirts, sandals, clutches, and tops to put them together for some new spring outfits. Added to the traditional gold, silver, and bronze are sequins, chain links, and statement solid pieces.

Pale Nails

Try soft milky shades such as cream, neutral, and white. This trend would look great with all of the previous trends. Statement outfits and accessories are taking center-stage this spring over statement nails.

Have fun with these new trends, ladies! Feel free to try some or all of them… just not all at once. And remember, it is never too early to start shopping and planning for the spring!
