Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s Cause of Death

The older of the two brothers who bombed the Boston Marathon, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was killed on April 19th during a shoot out with police.  The public had been speculating on the exact cause of his death and on May 4th, Peter Stefan, a funeral home owner in Worcester, MA, confirmed that Tsarnaev died from “gunshot wounds and blunt trauma to his head and torso.”  In related news, Dzhokar Tsarnaev, the younger brother, is in custody, as are three of his roommates, who are suspected of trying to take Dzhokar’s backpack and laptop out of his dorm room before the police or FBI could search them.

 

Boston Benefit Concert

On May 30th, James Taylor, Jason Aldean, Aerosmith, New Kids on the Block, and Jimmy Buffet will perform at “Boston Strong: An Evening of Support and Celebration” at the TD Garden.  All the money from the concert will be donated to The One Fund.  Tickets go on sale this Monday (May 6th) and are priced between $35 and $285.

 

Lil Wayne No Longer Sponsored by PepsiCo

PepsiCo has cut ties with Lil Wayne this week.  Lil Wayne was supposed to promote Mountain Dew, but the company terminated the deal once they learned that Lil Wayne made offensive comments about Emmett Till, a “civil rights icon.”  The comment comes from a reference Wayne made in his song “Karate Chop” where he raps about “beating someone during a sexual act and says he wants to do as much damage as was done to Till.”

 

Chris Kelly Dies

Chris Kelly, 34, part of the rap duo Kris Kross, died on May 1st.  He was found in his home in Atlanta.  Kris Kross was known for their 90s hit “Jump.”  Authorities suspect that Kelly died of a drug overdose.

 

Twerking Video gets Students Suspended

Approximately thirty-one students from Scripps Ranch High School in California have been suspended after making a “twerking” video and posting it online.  The students might not be allowed to walk at graduation or attend their prom.  The video was not only deemed offensive, but it was even shot on school property.
