With midterm season being as never ending as it is, we tend to spend long hours working in the library. If you’re anything like me, you could not make it through this time in O’Neill or Bapst without some good music. Recently, my study session lasted so long that I grew so tired of all of my different playlists that I turned to the playlist I made for the kids I babysit: a collection of Disney songs. I discovered that many of these songs do not get the attention that they deserve. So, here is the top 8 most underrated Disney songs.

1. The Gospel Truth I / Main Titles – Hercules

The muses start off this great Disney flick with a brief, sassy recap of Greek mythology. This song sets the tone for the movie and the many great songs that are to come.

2. Just Around the Riverbend – Pocahontas

If you like Moana’s “How Far I’ll Go”, you will love this song with its similar themes of wondering what lies beyond in the world and having a curiosity for adventure.

3. Son of Man – Tarzan

In my opinion, Tarzan  has one of the best soundtracks in film history. With songs like “You’ll Be In My Heart”, “Strangers Like Me”, and “Two Worlds” accompanying this song in the movie, it is easy to see how this gem is sometimes forgotten.

4. Bella Notte – Lady and the Tramp

This is the song playing in the part when Lady and Tramp take the crown for ultimate date night goals, as they sit and eat their pasta together.

5. Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride – Lilo & Stitch

How could you not dance along to this song?

6. A Girl Worth Fighting For – Mulan

A funny song that has all of the soldiers singing about their ideal woman, “A Girl Worth Fighting For” is no “Reflection” or “I’ll Make a Man Out of You”, but nonetheless deserves some attention!

7. I Just Can’t Wait to be King – The Lion King

Young Simba is one of the cutest Disney characters and this song is all about him. What’s not to love?

8. Fixer Upper – Frozen

Although Frozen isn’t a classic Disney film, it is still one that is known for its great soundtrack. Competing with “Let it Go”, this song never gained all of the popularity that it deserves. Go take a listen, it will have you singing along in no time!

Add some of these songs to your favorite playlist and you will never grow tired of your music again. Trust me, they keep any study session upbeat!
