Things to Look Forward to Over Winter Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

As we all suffer through finals, it’s important to remember what’s waiting for us at the end of all of this brutal studying. For me, thinking about the things I’m excited for over break helps me get though my hours of studying. In my opinion, here are the best parts of winter break:

1. No More Dining Hall Food

Say goodbye to dining hall food and say hello to home-cooked meals and food from your favorite restaurants at home.

2. Sleeping in Your Own Bed

Although my bed in my dorm is actually very comfortable, nothing compares to my bed at home. I’m so excited to sleep in my own bedroom for a whole month over break.

3. A Whole Month Without Homework

Don’t get me wrong, I love all of my classes here at BC, but a whole month without work sounds like heaven after weeks and weeks of studying.

4. Seeing Friends from High School

Spending quality time with my friends from high school is awesome, especially after not seeing them for a while. Distance truly does make the heart grow fonder!

5. Christmas

If you celebrate Christmas, winter break is even more exciting because of all the holiday cheer. If you don’t celebrate Christmas, seeing all of the beautiful, decorative lights is still a bonus of winter break.

6. New Year’s Eve

I absolutely love New Year’s Eve and look forward to it every year. There are so many fun things to do and it’s always a really fun night.

7. Reuniting with Pets

Being away from my dog while I’m at school can be torturous, but the idea of spending a whole, uninterrupted month with my dog is enough to keep me going through finals week!

8. Having the Opportunity to Make Money

Going home for break means I’ll have the opportunity to replenish my bank account with babysitting, house sitting, or working a few shifts at the place I worked over the summer. I blow through money pretty quickly at school, so it’s nice to have time to make more money to support my spending habits.

9. Breaking Up with My Alarm Clock

I’m counting down the days until I can turn off my alarms for a whole month. Not having classes to wake up for means I will most definitely be sleeping in as much as possible.

10. Spending Time with Family

There’s no place like home!

Have a happy, healthy and safe winter break, BC!
