Sunglass Trends for a Sunnier Spring

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Now that warmer weather is officially upon us, it is time to break out our dresses, sandals, and most importantly, sunglasses! They are the accessories I can’t live, and literally can’t see, without. The classic wayfarer or aviator styles are always in for the spring, but if you want to switch it up and try something a bit more adventurous, check out these funky sunglass styles. Celebrity style icons like the Olsen twins, Kardashian sisters, Nicole Richie and Beyonce are pushing the limits with their summer eyewear and you can definitely use them as inspiration!

Thick frames

Don’t worry, you will not look like a senior citizen with horrible vision in this look. Instead, you will look like you just walked off the runway. No matter what the shape, thick, chunky frames are right on trend. If you want to be extra bold, try this style in a bright color or interesting pattern.

Round Shape

The round, circular shape made famous by John Lennon is now being brought back in varied sizes and materials. My favorite look with the circle shape is an oversized pair that looks almost like goggles.

Cat-eye

I know that the cat-eye look can go a bit ‘50’s at times, but done subtly can create an awesome look and who doesn’t love adding a little but of classic retro into their wardrobe once in a while. The wayfarer-cat eye blend creates the perfect look for this summer that can carry on to other seasons.

Metal Accents

Metal accents and exposed frames are a huge trend for this spring and summer, and can be a part of almost any pre-existing style. The wiry look that was once just seen on aviators can now be seen on many different shapes of sunglasses.

These are just some of the hottest trends that not only protect your eyes but make you look great! Since these looks are a little bolder than the typical look you may have been wearing, I strongly suggest you try on any pair before you buy them. You want to make sure that the shape and size of the lens fit your face and the color of the frame and material match your skin complexion! This spring get a little more daring with your eyewear looks, and try out one of these trends!
