Summer Movies to Look Forward to:

Every summer, countless movies are released for our entertainment. Some of these movies will go on to be considered a “great summer blockbuster,” and others will flop horrendously. But regardless, we can look forward to seeing many of them in order to pass the dog days of summer. Life of the Party – May 11, 2018A recently divorced mother enrolls at the college where her daughter attends school. It’s stars Melissa McCarthy so it will certainly have you laughing. 


Book Club – May 18, 2018

A group of older woman read 50 Shades of Grey in their book club and hilarity ensues as they begin to incorporate the book into their love lives. Stars Jane Fonda, Diane Keaton, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen. 


Deadpool 2 – May 18, 2018

The Deadpool story continues as he battles villains in order to try and save “the kid.” Like the original, Deadpool 2follows a typical superhero movie format while sarcastically making fun of the formula. 


Solo: A Star Wars Story – May 25

As the next story in the Star Wars saga, Solo: A Star Wars Story tells the origin story of Hans Solo. 


Adrift – June 1, 2018

Based on a true story, Adriftfollows the story of a young couple who set out to sail from Tahiti to California and encounter a deadly hurricane. 


Ocean’s 8 – June 8, 2018

What movie could possibly be better than Ocean’s 11, you ask? An all-female spinoff staring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Rihanna, and Helena Bonham Carter. They attempt to steal a necklace from the annual Met Ball. 


Hereditary – June 8, 2018

Already being called one of the scariest movies of the year, hereditary follows the story of a family after their grandmother dies and some the paranormal things they may have inherited from her.


Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom – June 12, 2015

The Jurassic World story continues with a rescue mission to save the remaining dinosaurs in the park when the volcano with in the park begins to erupt. Of course, this doesn’t go as planned and adventure ensues. 

Incredibles 2 – June 15, 2018

This long awaited sequel shows the Incredibles family as they tackle their next mission. Helen is called to go back to work, while Bob tackles the challenges that staying home with the kids involves. 


The First Purge – July 4, 2018

How did The Purge begin? This movie tells the story of the events leading up to the initial Purge and how the country changed after The Purge. 


Mama Mia! Here We Go Again –  July 20, 2018

More ABBA! This movie flashes back and forth between Donna’s summer of love and Sophie’s preparation for motherhood, all to the tune of great ABBA songs. 

Crazy Rich Asians – August 17, 2018 

This movie follows a New York woman whose boyfriend takes her home with him to Singapore. Once there, she discovers that her boyfriend is “crazy rich,” which catches her completely off guard.  


All in all, there are many great movies to look forward to this summer, many of which are not included on this list. So, on those rainy days and days where it is too hot to be outside, go out and see a movie!
