Unless you spent Marathon Monday hiding under a rock, you know that Boston weather isn’t just warming up, it’s getting hot.  Really hot.  In fact, it was probably even hot under that rock you were hiding under. Needless to say, with the temperatures rising, a run-of-the-mill beauty routine just isn’t cutting it anymore. After a few hours, foundation loses its luster, eyeliner begins to smudge, and you’re left worrying about touch-ups when you should be frolicking outside.  Here, we provide you with a few of the best products to keep you carefree and looking your best on those warm days.

Boscia Green Tea Blotting Linens
As elusive as a lit-from-within glow can be, there’s a difference between glowing skin and shiny skin. Between extra oil production and fine layers of perspiration, your face begins to glisten as the days get warmer, and not in a good way.  Boscia’s facial blotting papers counteract those shiny situations by absorbing excess oil, leaving your skin matte and lovely all day long.  The compact packaging lets you slip them into your book bag or pocket in case of shine emergencies.  Plus, they won’t disturb your makeup, so feel free to blot at will.

Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray
As nice as it would be to spend the whole summer at the beach, most of us will be stuck inside office buildings at internships for the majority of the break.  But that doesn’t mean that you can’t fake it.  If you’re a true beach aficionado, you know that the salty water of the ocean is pretty much the best hair product nature could have made.  Bumble and Bumble’s Surf Spray recreates that sexy, windblown look, and even improves it by adding seaweed extracts to add moisture to your beachy locks.  As far as we’re concerned, when it comes to a perfectly undone look, there’s no better, or easier-to-use product.

Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral Powder SPF 30
While you should be starting your day with at least an SPF of 15 or above every morning, reapplying sunscreen throughout the day can be less than desirable: no one wants to slather another layer of sun block over their makeup midway through the day.  This SPF wunderkind solves that problem, providing instant sun protection in a transparent mineral powder.  It works immediately to block out the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays, preventing premature aging and unseemly sunburns, and also absorbs excess oil, leaving your skin looking fresh and flawless.

Josie Maran Magic Marker Lip & Cheek Stain
Whichever way you choose to enjoy warmer weather, the last thing you want to be worrying about is your lip color.  Instead of lugging around a mirror and your hue of choice, opt instead for a long-wear lip stain, which will last ten times longer than any lipstick or gloss.  Josie Maran’s Magic Marker is this writer’s personal favorite: with all natural, dance-inspired colors like Jitterbug (a bright pink) and Jive (pictured) and a wear time of close to four hours, it’s a veritable lip color dynamo.  The marker-tip applicator lets you wear the color sheer or build it up for a punchier pout, and the color will last through dinner, dessert and a few drinks.

Ultimately, summertime is about keeping things simple and relaxed, so it only makes sense that your beauty routine should be part of that philosophy, too.  What are some of your summer beauty essentials?
