No longer just a running shoe, the sneaker has transformed over the past few seasons into both a practical shoe and fashion statement. With this in mind, I have compiled a list of the five sneakers you can find in any girl’s closet—enjoy!
The Running Shoe
Call it a running shoe, a tennis shoe, or a sneaker…it can be found in each and every one of our closets. Every girl needs a good pair of workout shoes for those beloved trips to the Plex or runs on the Res with a group of friends. When purchasing your next pair, pick a colorful sneaker to make your workout routine a little brighter!
The Non-Workout Sneaker
There are two types of workout shoes: those for actually working out and those that look like workout shoes but aren’t really. These can work with running shorts, leggings, or can even be dressed up with jeans. They provide the comfort of a sneaker without the pain of actually hitting the pavement or enduring thirty minutes on an elliptical.
The Fashion Sneaker
This sneaker is strictly for style purposes—try to run in these and you will wind up with blisters and achy feet. From Converse, to Supergas, to Vans, there are a myriad of options from which to choose. Every girl should have a classic white sneaker (the more worn the better) in her closet—they are versatile enough to be to wear super casual or on the dressier side while still comfortable!
The Wedge
Love em’ or hate em’ this shoe has come onto the fashion scene in recent years. A unique spin on the typical sneaker, they can be worn with dresses, jeans, or even shorts. While not as practical as some of the others, the wedge sneaker is a definite fashion statement for the bold.
The Slip-On
Did you sleep through your alarm, again? In a mad rush to make it to class on time, the slip-on sneaker is a godsend. Find them in patterns, prints, and solids; these trendy shoes are a must in every closet.
With warm weather coming to a close (sadly), it’s time to stow away your open-toed shoes—switch it up with a new pair of kicks in the coming months!
