Â
It was all over after that fateful day. Â You lured me in with your impressive array of flavors (cookies and cream, mint chocolate chip, basic chocolate and vanillaâ the list goes on) and your flashing lights. Â It was love at first sight and we enjoyed the entirety of my freshman year together. Â I thought that when I left Newton Campus on Motherâs Day in 2012, that our goodbye would be the last, and that I would always have fond memories of our days in Stuart Dining Hall. Â I thought that you would remain static and unchanged, always waiting for me in the same spot, just in case I decided to catch the bus and revisit freshman year.
Â
Â
I was mistaken. Â When I returned in the fall, you had apparently spent the summer getting busy with the other dining halls. Â All of a sudden, you were in Mac, you were in Lower, and I was hurt. Â How could you leave Newton? Â How could you take away my good times, and my justification for enjoying the non-Upper experience? Â What was I going to say now, when people tried to say that Newton sucks? Â You were the one shining ray of hope in a dark, far-away abyss, and now I had nothing. Â Nothing.
Â
But you were persistent, FâReal, so persistent. Â Just as splendid and enticing as I remembered, only this time with new flavors like mango smoothie and I couldnât stay mad at you for long. Â In fact, I think some of our best memories are from this yearâ having a coffee milkshake for breakfast that one morning, experimenting with the âmore thickâ and âless thickâ options as they relate to wait timeâ and Iâm happy you made the move with me to main campus.
Â
One day, we will meet again in Stuart (probably when Iâm looking to spend the rest of my meal plan, âcause you ainât cheapâŠ) and I can only hope that weâre still in love.
