It seems that everyone always has two types of music on their iTunes.  There’s the kind that you reply with when people ask you what your favorite bands are.  And then there’s the kind that would make your face turn a shade of maroon that even Baldwin wouldn’t admire if others heard it through your earphones in the elevator at Campanella (it happens to the best of us).  I call these the “guilty pleasures” – the Taylor Swift, the Britney Spears, the Justin Bieber.  It’s the stuff that, as a “serious” collegiette™ and mature young adult, you feel you shouldn’t be listening to.  But as a person who loves infectious beats and bubblegum lyrics, you can’t help but add to your playlist.

And these “guilty pleasure” songs don’t just apply to the female population.  I remember sitting in O’Neill across from a typical BC bro and hearing Kelly Clarkson’s unmistakable voice through his massive Beats by Dre headphones.  At the time, this made me (as well as the majority of people I was sitting with) laugh, but from now on I’ve decided that we should embrace our “guilty pleasures.”  So here’s a playlist to get you started!  I understand if you still want to pretend you don’t have these songs, but as for me, I’ll be the girl in the elevator proudly listening to “Speak Now” regardless of its volume.

“Take it Off” – Ke$ha
“Sparks Fly” – Taylor Swift
“S&M” – Rihanna
“As Long As You Love Me” – BSB
“Show Stopper” – Danity Kane
“Like I Love You” – Justin Timberlake
“The Sweet Escape” – Gwen Stefani
“Hold it Against Me” – Britney Spears
“Clumsy” – Fergie
“Pretty Girl Rock” – Keri Hilton
