Pinterest Fun on Foster: Thanksgiving Cupcakes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

This Week: Thanksgiving Themed Cupcakes

The Ingredients

  • Cake mix and ingredients
  • Package of Oreos
  • Nutter Butters
  • Mini Reeses cups
  • Chocolate frosting
  • Vanilla frosting
  • Swedish Fish
  • Malted milk balls
  • Orange Tic-Tacs

Cupcakes

1. Bake cupcakes per instructions on the box.

2. Allow your cupcakes to cool, then frost with chocolate frosting.

Oreo Turkey

1. Use the chocolate frosting to attach a Reese’s cup and malted milk ball to an Oreo for the head and body of the turkey. Then use vanilla frosting and chocolate frosting to create the eyes. Use a tic-tac as the beak of the turkey and attach with chocolate frosting. Allow to set.

2. Twist the Oreo cookie so that the two cookies separate and attach a Swedish Fish to one side of the Oreo with chocolate frosting. Reattach the cookie with more chocolate frosting. Allow to set.

3. Gently push the Oreo into the cupcake until it is stable and add two orange Tic-Tacs for feet.

Nutter Butter Turkey

1. Create the eyes of the turkey by using vanilla frosting and making two large circles on the Nutter Butter cookie. Then use chocolate frosting to create the blacks of the eyes.

2. Attach the Tic-Tac for the beak with vanilla frosting

3. Cut a small strip off one of the red Swedish Fish and attach with vanilla frosting next to the nose to create the turkey’s wattle.

4. Gently press into cupcake.

5. Add “feathers” using Swedish Fish.

This was a super fun, super festive Thanksgiving treat. It’s easy enough to make with younger members of the family when you get home and is super delicious. I made these for the Her Campus BC Thanksgiving dessert potluck and everyone loved them. This is definitely going to become an annual Thanksgiving dessert at my house! Wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!
