Next fall, my younger sister will be joining me here at Boston College. At first, I was worried that having a sibling at BC would be weird for me, but as time has gone on, I’ve become really excited about sharing my college experience with my sister. Here is a list of perks associated with going to school with a sibling:
1. You’ll Have More Clothes to Share
This is more so associated with going to school with a sister, but, nevertheless, going to school with a sibling means you have a whole additional closet to raid when you run out of outfit ideas.
2. You’ll Have More Instagram Followers
This one is only kind of a joke. Once you meet and get to know some of your sibling’s friends, you’ll expand your network and your social media branches! Sometimes it’s a nice bonus to get some extra likes J
3. You’ll Have More Social Options
Knowing someone else at a school can expand your horizons to new groups of people and new social events. Having numerous groups of people to spend time with is always a good thing. A sibling can definitely help you expand your circle and have more to do on the weekends.
4. You’ll Have More Info about Your School/Town
With a sibling exploring the same town/city and attending the same school, you’ll be able to learn even more about your surroundings than you would on your own.
5. You’ll Have Another Person to Have Meals with
Sometimes you really just need to go off campus and get food. If all of your friends are busy and you don’t want to go alone, having a sibling on campus solves this problem! Siblings also make for great brunch dates.
6. You’ll Have a Travel Buddy
When you go to the same school as your sibling, you usually travel to and from school together on breaks. Especially if you live far away from your school, it’s really nice to have a travel buddy.
7. You’ll Have Someone to Share Funds With
Life for a college student is expensive. If you are running low on funds or your meal plan money is running out, having a sibling at the same school as you opens a whole new world of possibilities. It’s nice to know there is someone on campus that will always (hopefully) lend you money if you need it.
8. You’ll Have Someone to Remind You of Home
Sometimes being away from home is hard. Having a sibling at the same school as you can ease some of the homesickness you may feel while you’re at school.
9. You’ll Have the Chance to Experience College with Someone You Love
This one is sappy but it’s true. It’s really fun and special to get to spend some of the best years of your life with someone you really care about!
If you’re lucky enough to go to school with one or more or your siblings, take advantage of it! Enjoy the experience.
