Perfect Non-North End Date Ideas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

When you’re searching for a perfect date night restaurant, the default location is The North End. If you’re getting sick of taking the T and always having Italian food, try out some of these closer restaurants!

Union Street

This Newton Centre restaurant is only a short walk from campus, and is super affordable. The outdoor seating is perfect for fall nights. They have a huge, diverse menu with plenty of options to satisfy everyone. I personally recommend the white truffle mac and cheese, but the entire menu is delicious!

Johnny’s Luncheonette

Another popular Newton Centre destination, Johnny’s serves breakfast all day, in addition to having plenty of other options for non-breakfast-lovers. Every day, they display a set of initials in the restaurant, and if they’re yours, then you get free food!

Panera

A classic, the Panera in Newton Centre is always an easy, go-to choice for a low-key meal. The best Panera hidden secret is the Panera Rewards Card: you earn points for every dollar you spend toward things like free pastries and free coffee! Plus, they have free Wi-Fi.

The Cottage

The Cottage, located in Chestnut Hill at The Street plaza, is a bit more expensive than the Newton Centre options, but is just as delicious. The have tons of options, ranging from brunch to dinner, and they have an extensive gluten free menu!

Shake Shack

Shake Shack is a Chestnut Hill staple. With tons of inexpensive options, it’s perfect for a low-key meal. Plus, their shakes are delicious! Once a week, if you bring your BC ID, you can get free French fries!

Cheesecake Factory

A classic date-night restaurant, the Cheesecake Factory is only a short walk from campus in the Chestnut Hill Mall. The menu is huge, both for entrees and for cheesecake, so there’s something for everyone. Plus, it’s attached to the mall, so you can make a whole day out of the trip!

Next time you’re in the mood for dinner, and you don’t want to take the T, take a short walk outside campus to one of these fantastic restaurants!
