Party Outfits for the Holiday Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Sparkles

There is no doubt in my mind that sparkles are great to wear any time of the year, but during the holiday season they seem especially appropriate. As you get ready for the Christmas cocktail party or a New Years Eve bash, grab something with sequins and you are sure to look festive and on trend.

Ugly Christmas Sweater

Ugly Christmas Sweater parties are a staple of the holiday season. Chances are you will be invited to many of them in the coming years so it is worth buying a sweater for these events instead of borrowing one from a friend each year. These sweaters range from plain ugly to offensive so just be sure to select one you don’t mind being photographed in and have a good time!

Christmas with your family

Dressing for Christmas Day or Christmas Eve when you are spending time with relatives you may not see as often can be stressful. When in doubt, play it safe and overdress. You want to look your best and never feel sloppy. Pair dark jeans with a blouse, blazer and booties or a midi skirt with a turtleneck and heels and you will be ready to answer all your relatives questions about what you plan to do with your degree after graduation.

A Note About New Years Eve

As mentioned above, sparkles are a great thing to wear to ring in the New Year. That being said, keep it classy. Make sure your dress or skirt isn’t too short and your top not too low cut. You don’t want to be checking to make sure you are covered throughout the night and you definitely don’t want to be that girl who ends up exposing more than she should.

I am a Political Science major and Women's and Gender Studies minor at Boston College. I am an RA on campus and am involved in the Student Admissions Program. Since I am from Florida, I can legitimately say that I love long walks on the beach. I also love getting lost in a world fabricated by a novel, there is honestly nothing better.
