On Sunday night, the Her Campus BC staff got together for pizza and fashion!  Watching the stars’ red carpet entrances at the Oscars, we voted for our best and worst dressed – do you agree with our choices?

Our Worst:
The worst dresses in our opinion either had really strange details or were just straight and boring.

Cate Blanchett
I think this was our least favorite of the night.  We all reacted with disgust when we saw her.  The oval on her Givenchy Haute Couture dress looked like an Easter egg with warts around it and we did not understand the allure.

Nicole Kidman
Her Dior Haute Couture dress looks like a kimono.  And she continues to wear pale colors or white (maybe to try to match Keith Urban’s highlights?), but it washes her out every time.

Gwyneth Paltrow
Gwyneth’s dress by Calvin Klein Collection made us think of a spacesuit.  Maybe it should be a costume on Glee instead of an Oscars dress?

Michelle Williams
She rocks the pixie cut, but Michelle’s Chanel Haute Couture dress washes her out and the sleeves are not red carpet appropriate!

Our Best:
Generally, we preferred simpler dresses in bold colors.  If you find a flattering tone for your skin color, then you don’t need much detail to look amazing!

Jennifer Hudson
We love her new body and this Atelier Versace dress and amazing color show it off wonderfully.  But she looked so happy and confident that she would have been radiant in a t-shirt and jeans!

Natalie Portman
As one of our staffers said, “I think Natalie Portman could turn a gay man straight.”  Even when she’s pregnant.  The Rodarte dress was perfect for her and was an amazing color.

Mila Kunis
This Elie Saab Haute Couture dress was beautiful and interesting.  The lace and pastel color gave it a very romantic feel while the subtle details on the skirt made it a little edgier.

Reese Witherspoon
Her ensemble has been getting bashed in other worst-dressed lists, but we kind of loved it.  She looked so polished and vintage-chic in her Giorgio Armani Privé dress, and the big hair was a cross between the ever-adorable Elle Woods and a 1950s Barbie.

Honorable Mention:
These weren’t either best or worst dressed, just very entertaining!

James Franco
He looks cute in anything… even dressed like Marilyn Monroe.

Helena Bonham Carter
She always wears something crazy and Goth-chic, but we love her.  We can’t vote her best dressed, but her style is so unique that it works for her!
