This, Not That: Boots Edition

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Every girl knows how important a pair of boots can be.  Boots are not only for warmth in the winter, but also to be worn as an accessory.  A pair of boots can make or break a look.  Coming from someone who just emptied my wallet in order to buy a beautiful pair of boots, I can firmly say good boots are an investment.  Instead of wearing the same old boots you’ve been wearing for years now, try to switch up your look and invest in some boots like these instead.

Most girls own a pair of simple black flats that can be worn universally, even in the cold weather.  Instead of just wearing flats, try an adorable flat bootie.  Booties can be worn with almost anything – leggings, jeans, and even dresses as spring rolls around. They’re super cute and the absence of a heel makes them easy to wear around campus, even up and down the Million Dollar Staircase.  Try one with a buckle like these, or some straps or studs.

If you’re the kind of person that always wears the flat boot, try to change things up a bit!  Don’t get me wrong, everyone loves a pair of flat booties, especially if they look like the one above, but a heel can never hurt (as long as it’s not too high).  Try a pair of boots with a wooden heel.  They can be middies or be taller boots approaching the knee.  A pair like these is great because the neutral color makes them feasible with all outfits.  You could pair these with skinny jeans or a dress with tights.  The heel is a good height, so that your feet aren’t aching either!

Uggs are cute and warm and soft, I know, but as hard as it is for me to say, as we get older, I believe we need to rule out the Uggs from our everyday wardrobe.  Don’t get me wrong, Uggs are awesome every once in a while, but putting on a nice tall boot is going to look so much better.  Tall boots like these are still extremely cute.  If they’re leather or suede they will be warm and although they may not be soft and fuzzy, the flat heel will be comfortable!  Boots like these are casual enough to be worn daily, and can also be dressed up!

Don’t disregard your footwear this winter; try a new pair of cute boots.  You and your feet will look good in any of these styles and you’ll look better than ever!
