WARNING: Do not continue reading if you need to be productive with your day. The following will provide you with some great distractions that you should avoid. Throughout my day I find myself with a small pocket of time and nothing to fill it with. Maybe it’s that ten minutes between classes or that fifteen minutes I have to kill all of the time because I am always excessively early. Over time I have learned how to escape the boredom that is bound to ensue in these awkward moments. Here are some of my favorite ways to fill (or waste) my time.

Check out the Discover channels on Snapchat

Cosmo provides funny and relatable articles about celebrities, fashion/beauty, and relationships.  Buzzfeed has many funny lists and videos like those on their Facebook page. Refinery 29 is all about fashion and beauty. Tastemade has cool videos of recipes as well as an on-going list of things to do before you die. These are also fun to share with friends and a great way to fill an awkward space of time.

Binge on Instagram accounts

Foodstagrams, puppy pics, and relatable memes… we all have guilty pleasures on Instagram.  All of my friends know about my Instagram obsession. I have been blocked from commenting on Instagrams for an entire 48 hours before because they thought I was a spam account. This is a great activity if you are looking to kill some time because you can be on there for five or fifty minutes.

Scroll through camera roll

There has to be a reason that we insist on taking pictures of everything we do everywhere we go. Looking through these pictures we are reminded of the fun things we did, the photogenic food we ate, and all of the funny/awkward conversations we screenshotted along the way. Or, maybe, if you’re anything like me, maybe you will come across twenty-six adorable pictures of your friend’s dog that will leave you smiling.

Revise playlists

This is weirdly one of my favorite things to do. It doesn’t take long and it’s therapeutic in a way. Get rid of the old songs that you or the radio over-played and seek out new music that fits your current moods and tastes.

Brainstorm dream jobs

Considering I can sit and think about this for hours, I have a pretty good list going so far.

1.     Ellen DeGeneres

2.     Food truck owner/chef (“Waffles on Wheels”)

3.     Ice cream critic

4.     HGTV show with my mom (she’d be the star)

5.     Dog photographer

6.     Vineyard owner

Watch The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon videos

Box of Lies is my personal favorite game that he plays with his guests. Word Sneak, Wheel of Impressions, and Lip Sync Battle are also all very entertaining.

Avoid the boredom blues and try out some of my favorite ways to kill time.
