Between her psychology and pre-law classes, A&S sophomore Liz Woods still finds time to keep her passions for Irish dance and volunteer work alive. But when she’s not showing her moves on stage, building homes in South Carolina, or studying hard in class, Liz likes to let her sense of humor loose and to embrace all that BC has to offer.

Â
Realistic future plans: Â I hope to go to law school after BC.
Â
Summer plans: Â I am going to Ireland in August for a month and will hopefully find a job in the meantime.
Â
Why Irish Dance?  Both of my parents are from Ireland, and they always immersed me in the Irish culture. Irish dancing was just one of the many things they introduced to my twin sister and me.
Â
How long have you been involved in Irish Dance? Â I started Irish dancing when I was three and competed until I came to college.
Â
What is your favorite thing about being involved with Irish Dance at BC?  The boys. Just kidding (no offense, Peter!). I love BCID because I am still able to dance at college, but I no longer have to worry about preparing for competitions.  I danced at a respected dance school, and so my life revolved around it for fifteen years.  Now, I don’t have to worry about the competition, and I can just have fun and perform with all the friends I’ve made in BCID.
Â
Why Appalachia? Â I did a lot of volunteer work in high school, and I wanted to continue it at BC.
Â
Tell us about your experience with Appalachia.  My trip to McClellanville, SC, was definitely one of the best experiences I’ve had at BC.  Not only did I get to help people by fixing up their houses, but I also got to see a whole other part of the United States.  I also became very close with all of the awesome people in my group.
Â
What are you hoping to get out of the rest of your time at BC?  Overall, I just want to make the most of it.  I am so lucky that I go to such a terrific college, and I definitely want to take advantage of all the great experiences it has to offer. Â
