Status: Single. Alone. Table for One. One Eating Utensil. Not Ready to Mingle.
For some women, being single is viewed as a temporary status; one that needs to be switched immediately back to “in a relationship” or “seeing someone.” But being single can actually be pretty awesome.
Not to hook-up with an assortment of guys. Not to experience every type of date. Not to build up your resume of men. Being single, especially in college, can be a chance to love yourself and all that you have to offer as an individual. Cheesy? Absolutely.
You have time for self-improvement. This doesn’t mean hopping on the next open treadmill. This means being able to veg on the couch all day and eat a whole box of Cheez-Its while watching your favorite show. So it’s more like “giving your soul some love.”
Bonus: You don’t have to give up The Real Housewives of Orange County for ANYONE.
Saving money. Expensive gifts for your S.O.? Nope. Maybe for yourself though.
Learning to enjoy your own company. You have to be able to handle (and put up with) yourself before anyone else can.
Doing whatever YOU want. No compromises ever. You can go see the latest romance movie without seeing Die Hard after as payment. You can go to a party and not worry about someone else’s plans for the night. You can do the things you want to do without any guilty aftermath.
All in all, being single can be a great gig. Don’t feel like you need to be with someone in order to BE someone.
