It’s that crazy time of year when collegiettes™ across the country begin frantically preparing for finals, struggling to find time to fit in some Christmas shopping, and trying to figure out how to balance all of their holiday season obligations (ugly Christmas sweater parties, anyone?).  On top of all of that, the stress of finding an internship for the summer is looming in the back of everyone’s minds.  Yes, revamping and polishing your résumé isn’t the most exhilarating task, but deciding where to apply can be fun!  Here are some dream internships with awesome perks that you won’t want to miss out on!

1. Tom’s Shoes
You know it will be an amazing internship when you aren’t referred to as “the intern,” but instead as an “agent of change.”  The agents of change are given a great amount of responsibility and opportunity during the internship, so there won’t be any daily, trivial tasks like making the morning coffee run or becoming queen of the copy machine.  This internship runs from June 14 to August 24 in Santa Monica, California!  But wait, it gets better– it’s PAID! So head online and start your application!

2. Apple
Who wouldn’t want to work for one of the most innovative and relevant companies in the world?  Any experience with Apple would be simply irresistible to companies you apply for in the future.  The Apple Internship Program is a 12-week PAID summer internship in the Silicon Valley and as an employee, you receive discounts on Apple products.  If that doesn’t convince you to apply, I really don’t know what will.

3. MTV Networks
If you aren’t a huge fan of MTV, don’t worry.  MTV Networks is comprised of over thirty brands, including Nickelodeon, CMT, VH1, and Spike.  The summer internship program lasts 10 weeks and prepares students for the media/entertainment industry.  They are known to mainly accept recent grads, so seniors, this one is for you!

4. Southwest Airlines
“Get ready for the flight of your life.”  This is what Southwest tells their new interns every year.  The internship, based in Dallas, Texas, allows students to not only get work experience, but also travel experience.  The perks are absolutely amazing, including free unlimited Southwest Airlines travel, free career development classes, and a casual dress code.  December 5th is the deadline to apply for Summer 2012, so get online and start filling out the application!

5. Nike
I love my Nike, so working for Nike would be a dream come true.  Their summer internship program lasts for 10 weeks and is located in Beaverton, Oregon, right near Portland!  The job comes with a ton of perks including a membership at the Nike state-of-the-art fitness centers and access to the Nike Employee Store.  Hey, a girl can never have too much workout wear, right?  Specifics haven’t been posted on the Nike career site yet, but keep checking back for Summer 2012 information!

Kelsey Damassa is in her senior year at Boston College, majoring in Communications and English. She is a native of Connecticut and frequents New York City like it is her job. On campus, she is the Campus Correspondent for the Boston College branch of Her Campus. She also teaches group fitness classes at the campus gym (both Spinning and Pump It Up!) and is an avid runner. She has run five half-marathons as well as the Boston Marathon. In her free time, Kelsey loves to bake (cupcakes anyone?), watch Disney movies, exercise, read any kind of novel with a Starbucks latte in hand, and watch endless episodes of "Friends" or "30 Rock."

Julianne is an Ohio native studying communication at Boston College with a concentration in journalism. She got involved with Her Campus BC when the chapter launched in December 2010. She began as an editor and contributing writer, and since has moved up the ranks to Campus Correspondent. Aside from working for Her Campus, Julianne is a certified personal trainer at Boston College's Flynn Recreational Complex and teaches group fitness as well. During her sophomore year, Julianne was a part of the Arrupe Program at BC and traveled to Guatemala, learning about the culture, political, social, economic, and religious issues of the country. Her goals post graduation include writing for a health and fitness magazine or working in communications for college or professional athletics. As for now, however, she is enjoying life at the University she loves so much! An avid hockey and football fan, one can always find Julianne in the stands rooting on BC and the Boston Bruins! Other hobbies include running, yoga, cooking, baking, and photography.
