Insurgent: A Must-See

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

I was lucky enough to be the winner of the Her Campus Twitter contest to see an advanced screening of Insurgent this Monday.

When I arrived at the AMC Loews Boston Commons Theater, I made my way to the ticket booth and informed the employee that “I’m on the VIP list.” I have to admit that I felt super cool doing so. Because it was an advanced screening, phones were required to be left outside the theater. If anyone was seen with their phone in the theater, they were kicked out. I read all three books of the Divergent series, but had very little memory as to what happened in the second installment of the series, other than the ending. The movie began where Divergent left off, depicting Tris and Four (along with love-to-hate-them Caleb and Will) as fugitives. Though I knew how the movie would end, the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat during numerous action sequences. Not only did the movie contain enough fight scenes and action to please its male viewers, but the romantic plotline between Tris and Four was featured just enough to please the hopeless romantics in the audience as well. Let’s be honest, any time Theo James was on the screen, the movie was 500 times better.

I felt that Shailene Woodley finally lost her reputation, in my mind, as Amy from Secret Life of the American Teenager and was able to fully transform into the role of strong-willed Tris Prior.

All in all, Insurgent was a great movie filled with a perfect mix of suspense, humor, and romance. It is defiitely worth the cost of a movie ticket to see it with friends or for a date night! A huge thank you to Her Campus and Lionsgate for the opportunity to see the advanced screening!

I'm a sophomore majoring in Communications with a minor in History. My post-grad goal is to work at NBC, but don't ask me what I want to do or how I plan on getting there. If you're ever looking for me on campus I'm most likely in the chocolate bar, drinking an iced caramel latte and pretending to be doing my work.
