How to Throw a Classic Christmas Party

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Do you feel like the magic of Christmas has disappeared little by little as you’ve grown up?

Blast the Christmas Jams

I’m not talking about Justin Bieber’s cover of “Little Drummer Boy.” I’m talking about the music your parents played when ugly Christmas sweaters were just known as Christmas sweaters: Frank Sinatra and Harry Connick, Jr.

Check out this great playlist by fellow Her Campus BC member Elaina Bell to get some ideas: https://play.spotify.com/user/1272134313/playlist/4xikaVd3OEGQj4EeCobwLH

Deck the Halls

Whether you’re in a dorm, a Mod, or off campus – it’s Christmas lights time! Take advantage of it. You’ll be surprised what a few decorations can do to get you in the Christmas spirit

No Facebook

Throwing the party? Don’t just send out a mass Facebook invite. Try calling your friends or, better yet, sending them invitations in the mail. Who doesn’t get exciting when they see their name on an envelope in their mail box?

Classic Appetizers/ Christmas Themed Food

Bring back the party Chex Mix, pigs in a blanket, and egg nog. Decorating cookies before the party or even letting guests decorate their own will make everyone feel like little kids again.

Dress to Impress

There is no such thing as a tacky Christmas outfit… okay, there is, but who cares? It’s Christmas! This is the one time of year you can wear as much red and green as your heart desires. You want to wear a giant red bow? Go for it! Want to get a little dressed up? Go for it!

Mistletoe

What is Christmas without kissing that special someone underneath the mistletoe? Put some up and pucker up!
