How to Celebrate National Drink Wine Day in Boston!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Meet your new favorite holiday: National Drink Wine Day! This upcoming Thursday, February 18th is easily the most important national holiday to ever be created (a close second behind National Pizza Day). The day is meant to “spread the love and health benefits of wine”, and “to embrace the positive benefits of wine such as new friends, reduced risk of heart disease and the enhancement of food and life”. If you ask me, this sounds absolutely too good to be true.

Here I was thinking that every day was National Drink Wine Day, only to find out that some amazing people decided that February 18th was the day to make it official. This open invitation to drink one of the best liquids on the planet will easily make Thursday the best day ever. If you’re in Boston and looking for some great places to enjoy wine on Drink Wine Day, here’s some awesome local celebration locations:

The Urban Grape

Located in the South End, the Urban Grape hosts free wine tastings every Thursday from 5-8 pm. On February 18th, Cynthia Hurley Wines will be featured. Did I mention it’s free?! Sign. Me. Up.

Boston Wine Tour

The Boston Wine Tour, available every Saturday with the option of trying their “Waterfront” or “Hidden Gem” tour, is number one on my bucketlist. For $65, the tour includes tastings of 6 wines, paired up with food, learning how to properly taste wine, and three tour stops. This tour sounds and looks amazing for those who want to have the full Boston wine experience!

Boston Wine School

The Boston Wine School, easily one of the coolest places in Boston, hosts interactive classes and events teaching people about—you guessed it—wine! On Thursday, Boston Wine Schools (BWS) will be hosting “BWS @ Boston Winery | Pinot to the People!” where participants will drink Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, and will learn “basic wine tasting skills and how to describe the different personalities of these wines”. Now this sounds like the kind of class I want to go to!

These are some great ways for those of you (who are 21+!) to enjoy and celebrate Drink Wine Day this upcoming Thursday February 18th in Boston!

For those looking for more informtion on this awesome holiday, check out the holiday’s Facebook and Twitter accounts! Happy National Drink Wine Day!
