How to Bullet Journal for Happiness

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Bullet Journaling has been a big trend for a while now. With its combination of a journal, planner, and to-do list, it is no wonder this trend is taking millennial girls by storm. And with its easy customizability, one can add any additional information to it that they want, including ways to increase happiness! Here are some ideas to freshen up your bullet journal and maintain happiness:

-Make a Gratitude Section

One way to increase our happiness is to think about all the blessings in our lives. We often tend to stress about the small things and forget just how lucky we actually are. The gratitude section in a bullet journal can take multiple forms – again, the bullet journal format is extremely customizable! One way is to add a section on each day where you write one new thing that you are grateful for. Another way, and my personal favorite, is to have one page dedicated just for gratitude for one month and to write a new thing that you are grateful for every day. But no matter how you do it, thinking about all the blessings in your life will definitely improve happiness!

-Make a Done List

For some people, a to-do list is more overwhelming than helpful. Looking at all the things you have to do can certainly cause panic! Instead, try making a done list. If you are feeling overwhelmed, make a list of everything you have gotten done that day or week to show yourself that you are actually being productive. The confidence that comes from this can improve your mood and help you to continue being productive.

-Add a Mood Tracker

A mood tracker can be really beneficial for mental health. It allows you to see how long you’ve been feeling certain emotions and just keeps track of your overall well-being. There are many ways to do this, but I’ve found that the best layout for a mood tracker is to have the moods along the side and the dates along the top, and to fill in the boxes of the moods you felt that day. Additionally, you can include a box on each day where you write down your moods. Whatever way you do it, a mood tracker is a great addition to your bullet journal!

-Gel Pens

Lastly, perhaps my favorite part of bullet journaling is the pens and markers that you can get to go with it. Have you ever used a gel pen and felt sad? Not me! Colorful pens are an easy way to bring some color and brightness to a dull day.
