Haunted Houses Around Boston

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Halloween is one of my favorite times of year.  You can justify dressing up as that celebrity you’ve always dreamed of being or the reality TV star who’s life is a dramatic hot mess.  But, Halloween always means it’s time to gather friends to adventure out outside of our BC bubble and explore supernatural places: spooky haunted houses.  Here’s a list of some must visits this year:

Haunted Hill:

Cumberland, Rhode Island
This isn’t your traditional haunted house.  It was honestly one of the scariest haunted experiences I’ve ever had.  Haunted Hill is a spooky outdoor adventure where men, women and little children in masks jump out at you and chase you with chain saws.  You are out in the middle of the woods with only you and your friends trekking through around the hill with only a man named Buddy as your guide.  You will be scared.

Spooky World:

Litchfield, New Hampshire
Only 40 minutes away by car, Spooky World is guaranteed to be filled with thrills and chills.  With zombies and villains freely roaming around the parking lot from when you first get there to when you are waiting in line for attractions, Spooky World is definitely haunted.  This eerie theme park also includes zombie paintball, go-kart racing, tarot card reading for those who enjoy supernatural suspense.  There are coupons available for discount coupons at Dunkin Donuts.

Salem:

Salem, Massachusetts
Salem is the home of the Witch trials.  Check out the haunted neighborhood: Salem Witch Village, Haunted Witch Village, The Candlelit Ghostly Tour and Graveyard Walking Tour.  Feel the spirits of the witches who were executed right at your feet.  If you get too scared from just being in a ghost town, grab a famous Maine apple bun or kettle corn to calm your nerves.  Beware of the witches of 1692!

Greycliff/Graveyard:
Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts
If all else fails, there is always the Greycliff dorm.  For those who want to remain close to campus and maybe discover some ghosts, just take a stroll down Comm Ave and enter BC’s very own haunted house: Greycliff dorm.  It’s creepy enough to send shivers down anyone’s spine if you walk through it alone.
