Now that the nonexistent Syllabus Week is over, collegiettes, free time is a scarce resource on the Boston College campus. We’ve all had those moments when the only thing you want to do after a long day of classes is crawl into bed and watch Netflix, or the weekends when you contemplate not leaving your room all day to avoid the cold. As convenient and comfy as that is, why not change things up a little this semester? Make this winter more productive than the last and tackle a project you’ve been meaning to accomplish or take a look at this list for a few ideas.

Focus on keeping one New Year’s resolution: People try to remake their lives every new year and many people ultimately let the majority of their resolutions fall through the cracks. No matter what it is, choose one that you are the most adamant about, and focus your attention on keeping it. Write out reminders and tell your friends about your goal so they can hold you accountable.

Redecorate: Dorm rooms are probably not in the best shape after last semester’s finals, so take advantage of the cold weather by staying inside and cleaning up a bit. Do the cleaning that you have been putting off for months. Give some much needed attention to your neglected closet and the suite bathroom that has seen better days. Really bored? Use this time to move things around or try that DIY project you pinned three months ago.

Have a movie night: Sitting around watching Netflix might not seem like the most productive thing to do, but bonding with your friends definitely is. Find out what’s going on in everyone’s life outside of papers and Friday night plans.

Explore Boston: Explore all the Boston has to offer during a different time of year and go ice skating at the Frog Pond and have coffee at Boston Common Coffee Co. In need of a few winter essentials? Visit the shops in Downtown Crossing and stock up for the months ahead.

Update your resume/LinkedIn profile: The cold winter months make most of us wishing it could be summer already. Summer weather also means summer internships or jobs, so get ahead of the game by making sure your resume is in great shape now.

Get moving: As cold as it may get outside, it will always be toasty in the Plex. Beat the winter blues by doing an exercise that you love whether its running, weight lifting, or yoga.

Hopefully, some of you feel inspired to make 2016 your most productive year yet! But don’t worry, no one will judge you for the occasional Netflix binge.
