Fun Bars that Aren’t MA’s

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Now that my roommates and I are finally 21, we’ve had the chance to explore some bars outside of the BC/Cleveland Circle bubble. Although every senior obligatorily loves going to MaryAnn’s, there are so many more bars that are begging to be discovered.

1. Tavern in the Square (161 Brighton Ave., Allston – at Harvard Ave. T Stop)

Of all the bars in this article, this one is my favorite. Going to bars at Harvard Ave. is so convenient to the BC population. It’s almost perfectly halfway between downtown and BC’s campus. TITS is always a great place to go on a Thursday night and see a fun mix of college students and the Allston community. I, personally, always have a great time here. When it’s not serving the nighttime bar scene, they have a full menu where you can go and watch sports during the day.

2. Joshua Tree (1316 Commonwealth Ave., Allston – at Griggs St. T Stop)

Another great Thursday night location, Joshua Tree is where you can always find a group of BC students out. Similar to Tavern in the Square, they offer a full menu during the day in addition to a plethora of sports games always on. Another plus – they offer Saturday and Sunday brunch.

3. Wonder Bar (186 Harvard Ave., Allston – at Harvard Ave. T Stop)

Wonder Bar comes highly recommended by BC students. They do require a small cover (usually around $5), but it’s well worth the fun night out you are going to have. Located at the Harvard Ave. T stop, transportation there is a quick T ride and back is a cheap cab ride.

4. The Pour House (907 Boylston Street, Boston – at Hynes T Stop)

If you’re looking for a fun bar to go to downtown, The Pour House is located right on Boylston Street near the Prudential Center. Business Insider named The Pour House the best bar in Boston according to locals in 2013. They offer food during the day and great beer at night. Like J. Tree, The Pour House has an upstairs and downstairs, both filled with people on the weekends.

When you’re looking for a bar to head to that’s not MA’s, you will easily have a great night at any one of these bars. Depending on what you’re looking for, they each cater to their own unique scene. Have fun, BC seniors!
