Everything Will Be Okay

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

If you’re like me, these past two weeks have been especially difficult. This could be for many reasons – maybe you were bombarded with four papers that you forgot about until the week of (like I did). Maybe your professors all scheduled midterms on the same day. Maybe you’ve been having relationship problems, either with your significant other or your best friend. Or, maybe, you’ve just been feeling down and can’t seem to figure out why.

Believe it or not, it’s going to be okay. It probably seems like everything is piling up and you don’t have the time or the mental capacity to handle it all. This happens to everyone at some point in time, so don’t worry- you’re not alone. If you feel like you need help, your friends are sure to understand. Another resource you wouldn’t normally think of when you’re feeling overwhelmed is your professor. Typically, they are extremely understanding, and want to help you to do your best, even if that means being flexible with assignments, or even exam dates.

While you can’t always change your situation, there are some things you can always do to help yourself. It may seem like you have to study all day, every day, in order to do well on a test, but it’s actually important to have “you” time. If you don’t give yourself time to relax by hanging out with friends, watching Netflix, or even just taking a nap, you’ll feel even more overwhelmed. If you’re having relationship problems, take a step back, and have some time to feel good about yourself – you can’t make a relationship better unless you are happy with yourself first.

Even if it seems like everything is getting to be too difficult to bear, it will get better. Work hard, but still try to enjoy yourself, and soon everything will be back to normal. Good luck on your exams and papers, everybody!

Boston College student, but Wisconsinite at heart. Music aficionado, and lover of all things cats. BC '16, LSOE. Secondary Ed. and English major, Psychology minor. I am a Political Science major and Women's and Gender Studies minor at Boston College. I am an RA on campus and am involved in the Student Admissions Program. Since I am from Florida, I can legitimately say that I love long walks on the beach. I also love getting lost in a world fabricated by a novel, there is honestly nothing better.
