Don’t Resort to a Card This Mother’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Sometimes, in the midst of finals, we get so caught up in exams, packing, saying goodbye to our friends, and celebrating the end of the semester that we often forget that special holiday that comes the second Sunday of May every year: Mother’s Day. Then you get that last minute reminder text from your dad, “Don’t forget to get your mother a gift for tomorrow,” and you start to panic. In order to prevent another last minute trip to CVS or Hallmark to pick through the rejected Mother’s Day cards that you know will arrive late (sorry, no mail on Sundays), Her Campus BC is here to help.

Here are some great finds that will not only make your mom smile, and potentially cry if she is like my mom, but also gifts that are in a college student’s budget.

Remind your mom that distance doesn’t prevent you from thinking of her:

Customize this unique print to match your location here at BC and your hometown. Often times we forget to call our moms or respond to their good morning texts, but we love them and their kind thoughts. Here is a way to show that you are thinking of them just as much as they are thinking of you, and only for $18.00!

Thank her for all those delicious meals:

If it was not for my mom, I would probably live off of PB&J, take-out, and anything that can be microwaved (love you, Dad, but you’re not the best cook). No matter how busy my mom was, she always managed to pack me a nutritious lunch, cook a delicious dinner, and bake for endless bake sales at my school. To thank her for all those meals, present her with a customized cutting board with all of your family members represented on it. For only $29.99, your mom has a new kitchen accessory to feed the family she loves.

Help her unwind after a rough day:

We all know that moms are just like us, and we all have rough days. And just like us, moms like to unwind after a bad day with a nice glass of wine. To help make her serving a little bit easier, here are some fun-loving wine glasses, for only $6.99 each, that she will adore pouring her favorite vino into.

A multi-purposed present for a multi-tasking mom:

The number of items on a mother’s to-do list can sometimes make my to-do list look pathetic, and I can make quite extensive to-do lists. Add one more thing to your mom’s to-do list that she will look forward to doing at the end of the day: relaxing. If you are not sure whether to get your mom a sweet smelling candle or a soothing body lotion, no fear, because Objects with a Purpose does both. The candle, costing $28, is hand-poured with organic wax, and since it burns at a low temperature, the wax can be used as soothing body butter when warm or a solid perfume when cooled.

Moms are our own personal wonder women, and they deserve to have their super powers recognized. Regardless of what you give your mom this Mother’s Day, make sure to thank her for all she has done for you and don’t forget to tell her you love her; that is a gift that she always loves receiving.
