Anyone who knows me knows that I don’t go anywhere without my planner. I write down everything I have to do and all of the places I have to be. Meetings, deadlines, and exams each get their own color, and once I am done going through each syllabus my planner could be considered a work of art. Why would I use Google Calendar if I can use something so neat and colorful?
I rely on my planner like no twenty year old should, and I know I can’t be alone in this. With BC’s commitment to being over committed, there is no way I am the only person who has to break out her planner to see if she can meet someone for coffee. My friends have actually stolen it just to see how much I would freak out. While it’s probably not the most normal thing in the world, nothing is going to get me to change my ways. Using the calendar on my phone just isn’t the same, and I don’t care if that makes me a grandma. I stand by Kate Spade and her quality planners.
To the people who don’t have a planner, all I can say is how? How do you remember deadlines and meetings or if your Chem midterm is this week or next week? Wouldn’t it be nice if your assignments stopped being surprises. I may not be able to go anywhere without a 9”x6” gold polka dot book, but at least I have never forgot to complete an assignment or missed an appointment with a professor.
Get a planner! It’s doesn’t have to be a designer one, just something with a calendar and space to write assignments. The Dean’s office of each college even have some for free! Trust me, your life will be changed with the addition of a planner, and your friends will thank you for arriving on time.
Happy Planning Collegiettes!
